Effects is a Digital Image Processor (DIP) application designed specifically for the iPad, offering users a streamlined interface for image manipulation.
The application allows users to either select an image from their device's archive or capture a new photo using the integrated camera. Users can then apply one of four distinct image processing algorithms, each providing unique aesthetic results.
The four processing effects available are:
- Bass Relief: This effect generates a new grayscale image with an embossing effect. It is versatile and works well with any image that possesses adequate contrast.
- Contour: This feature detects borderlines between areas of differing brightness to produce a drawing effect. Optimal results are achieved with images characterized by strong contrast.
- Pseudo Colors: This algorithm transforms various brightness levels of the original photograph into a spectrum of color hues, creating diverse color combinations within a single image—evoking a visual style reminiscent of Kandinsky.
- Deformer: This effect applies barrel distortion, manipulating portions of the original image to create inflated or compressed effects. It is particularly effective for close-up portraits, producing entertaining and exaggerated variations.
Upon launching the application, users are prompted to select their image source: either from their archive or by taking a new photograph. After an image is chosen, users can select one of the four processing methods by tapping on the corresponding sample image that depicts the desired effect.
Once an effect is selected, it is applied to the chosen image, and the processed result is displayed. If the Pseudo Colors effect is selected, users have the option to adjust the brightness-to-color translation by tapping on the resulting image multiple times, allowing for further customization.
If users are satisfied with the final output, they can save it to their local archive by pressing the Save Image button, after which they have the option to select another image for processing.
